Rush slip on / 1.75 baffel. sound great !!!!! cyclespot has the best prices last time i checked, great place to deal with too. these are the ones i have. no remap needed, stock AC still on my scooter. Tell them Steve from ohio sent ya !!! teall them you on the hd form here too. Let me know how you like them Sir.
Story808..... I ran the Reinhart staggards for a couple years and they were one of the best sounding pipes I everherd for the Twin Cam...
Trotter, I would have bought the rinehart in the begining but the prise was pretty high
so i went with python 3's then tried LAF shorties, they were really loud (blap blap) but
the sound had no soul just loud. The way i see it is i can't go wrong with rineharts, sound
and performance.
I have a set of SE II slash cut slipons (HD #80344-00) that have only been on for about 10min....I liked them, but my head pipes were aftermarket so I couldn't use them. So I found a complete set of takeoffs, headers and all, that I installed because they were baloney cut (preferred style for me anyways). The pipes I have are still in the original box and have new SE clamps as well. They sound alot better than stock, but not as loud as some after market ones.
I have cycle shack slip-ons on mine. Not obnoxiously loud but not tinny at all. I really like the sound. The only thing I don't like is they don't retain the cross-over. I think low-end torque would be better with the cross-over as opposed to a 2 into 2.
I go back and forth wanting either true dual fish tails or a true 2 into 1 such as D&D or thunder header. I like the sound so much I really hate to change them (and spend 3 times as much $$). Those are the stock heat shields by the way.
If you can't afford to replace the whole system I would wait till you have enough money and buy a complete system.I made the mistake of puting SE slip-ons andhave to agree they are not much better than standard. If I had my time again I would wait till I had enough money and do my research and get a full system.
I agree with most of the posts here about waiting until you can afford the full system (pipes) that you really want.
On the flip side, my RUSH SLIP ON's served me well..both in the wallet, and the performance & sound for over one year, until I could see my way clear to get the VH BSS.
