Hi All, I have just recently bought an 08 Softail Custom 105th Ann. Ed. and need to rip the stock pipes off and put on new ones. I can't afford to replace the whole system, so slip-ons are the way to go for me.
I have looked at a number of different makes and they all look so nice, but it's hard to settle on something when you can't hear the sound they produce.
I have looked at SE, S&S V&H and Cycle Shacks.
The sound I am looking for is a nice deep rumble when idling (everyone knows the sound I mean) and want to be heard on take off. I don't want something ear piercing as I need to respect my neighbours and of course my girlfriend!!
Can anybody help me decide!! What do other people have?
I wouldn't go with the Screamin' Eagle slip-ons. They're not much louder than stock. I hear people have been happy with Rush slip-ons. They might be worth lookin' into. My wife and sister both have V&H slip-ons on their Sportsters. They sound pretty good too.
Yep, Rush makes some good stuff, you can decide how nasty ya wanna sound.
Supertrapp is the ultimate in being able to tune a pipe with their diffuser disc system.
LOL, don't look at MY bike, I got those Kerker pipes from my bro fer free, so that made MY decision easy!
Nice quality, a lil' loud, but not obnoxious...
I amvery happy with my Rush 2". I paid$219 for them.
If you do a search for Rush you will find a lot of posts in this and the Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust forum.
On the flip side I've seen many folks trying to sell their slip ons becausethey just weren't satisfied. It may be worthwhile to save your pennies a little longer and buy the pipes you really want in the near future.
i had the SE 2 pipes on my 04 Fat boy and they sounded good. if they arnt loud enough for you you can always get baffles from big city thunder. there web site is www.bigcitythunder.com
just go for a whole new system i got v+h at americanclassicmotors.comfor $150 cheaper than on the v+h web site total was $525 dollars shipped. dont worry about the neighbors.
