As to the passenger pegs flipping up over the tool box, just rotate the peg mounts 90 degrees so they fold back instead of up it really cleans up the lines when solo all you see is a chrome side of the peg and it also sits between the pipes on the opposite side.
Went to buy one for the left side of my deluxe and the parts guy told me I cant install one unless I have passenger footboards. Anyone know if this is true?
got a black one from J&P Cycles, came with the peg extention.bracket is chromed tho.they could be powder coated.the finish was a little dull but they shine up with a little liquid wax and buffing
I actually keep tools in mine. I hated the stock mounting bracket that put it right up by the oil bag, and stuck way out, so I fabbed up my own bracket to mount it where it belongs on an FL. If you want more storage for your softail, check out Garage Leathers solo bag. http://garageleathers.com/

I like your mounting bracket a lot! It sits the tool box farther back on the bike vs. the HD one. I think I'm going to have to look into a bracket from JP for my tool box.
Check out my box and where it sits...doesn't it look to be farther foward on the bike than your does?...it covers more of the oil tank right?
