I know this will seem like a stupid question but I can't get it. Trying to install fuelpak on my night train & cannot get the fuse box detached from bracket. I have practically torn up the bracket trying to seperate them but cannot get to flanges that hold the 2 boxes on. I don't want to pull on things to hard & rip loose some wires. Got the bolts out of the top & there were 3 plastic ties attached to a wire harness. got them cut but the bracket still doesn't move much. Got my pipes changed over & new ac but this is driving me crazy. Might have to change my name to 5thumbs. Any help would be appreciated
Brother you are not alone, and don't feel stupid. That bracket is a b!tch to remove. I just did mine this weekend and ended up cutting it and to the trash it went. LOL.
Yeah, they kinda breeze thruthat step in the instructions don't they. Make it sounds simple, but it is not. You have to make sure and cut all the cable times holding it on. I got frustrated, and when I came back out to the garage, my friends had figured it out..
I remember having to use a combination of pliers and a screwdriver to get them apart. Initially I had planned to keep the bracket, but like Waltman said, I wound up tearing it all to hell getting it apart and then threw it away.....
Yes, that bracket must be ripped apart and discarded. Don't worry about reinstallation, the fuse block just slips back in to the very limited space behind the battery and won'tflop around.
There are tiny clips on the back of the metal bracket that need to be pryed up and out slides the boxes.I wrestled around for hours with this and finally looked on the inside of the metal braket and found the clips. Hope this helped.
Oh Gawd, don't even remind me of that afternoon. I spent 3 hours on that POS. Best is to kill the bracket, and hell, that ain't easy either. I called a bud of mine and he called a friend, finally we got the thing off. If you look closely, at the bottom of it, there is a "hitch", that keeps it in place, you have to push that tab back and that will release the stupid fuses.
That has to be the stupidest, brain dead contraption I just about ever dealt with on the scoot. Good luck with it dude.
