Here in Texas the law is to have the inspection sticker posted around the license plate. Im looking for a layed down license bracket with the inspection bracket in one or if someone has a better idea or some pics of theres in TX i can go by to make one or a link to were i can purchase one would be much appreciated. I have a 2008 softail deluxe.
TX 2007 Deluxe owner - dealer mounted the inspection sticker on a seprate plate on the rear axle. No picture available today since bike is in for 1000 mi service.
There are plenty of options out there. just depends on where you want to put it, or where the law said you have to put it. I'm glad indiana doesn't to this.
I live in Texas and I keep mine in my toolbox at home. I figure if that is all the cops have to do, it's a pretty sad situation. I haven't ran one for 2 years or so....
My local HD dealer in Austin has new bikes with the inspection sticker on a bracket that is attached toa bolt in the engine guard mount hole below the front left foot peg near the oil filter.
I have the Kury laydown curved license plate holder and the inspection sticker is mounted on a chrome bracket mounted to the frame next to the pulley guard. It was slightly crookedin this picture, but has been corrected and secured. Have been stopped by DPS! Going 63 in a 55 [sm=nono.gif].... Couldn't believe it. he did not stop my buddy who was next to me [sm=WTFsgign.gif]Sunny day, dry road, no traffic........Everything checked out, no problems, gave me a warning....[sm=wootwoot.gif] But he did look my scoot over pretty good, had a lot of questions, talked for almost an hour on the side of the road!! I think he was lonely !!!!![sm=happybounce.gif] Guess my scoot and I passed the test!!!!!!!
Texas Law says Lic Plate should be mounted on rear fender. Insp Sticker has to be visible from the rear of the bike.
I carry my insp sticker in a bag on handlebars and lic plate is mounted on swingarm. A local LEO visited with us on a stop so we asked him about this (in Texas). He confirmed above and looked at my bike, said yep, illegal. He then said slim chance if any to get stopped for it unless the LEO was really looking for something. He did not ticket me or say get it fixed, just said nice bike.
