I have 3" forward controll extensions on my Softail standard and would like to try some footboards to replace the pegs. I'm concerned thatthey might interfere with the shifter/brake pedal.
If anyone hasdone this, I'd appreciate some feedback on what works and what doesn't.
IMO, fxst's look funny with floor boards. I went with the kuryakyn dually pegs with stirrups for me andthe dually's for my wife w/out the stirrups as it'd look funnyand am happy with them, but each to their own.
All the floorboard parts(stock or aftermarket)that fit a Fatboy, Deluxe, Heratige,or Crossbonesshould be a bolt on deal if you really want floorboards.
But I have to agree with the other guys, I think its going to look a bit strange unless your aiming toward theCrossBones look. Even then I think your bike may have too much raw, polished, and chromed metalon itto 'work' well.
I too am concerned about how it would look with the boards. I have the dually pegs on mine too, but from the pics in the J&P book I wasn't sure if the stirrups would add much support. You say they do, so I just might give them a try.
I have aseveral thousand mile trip comming up later this summer and I really need better foot support for the long haul.
Thanks for the input.
Puzzled.... your ride is a beauty, but the boards blend in better than they would on a brighter bike---I think.
