Default Baggy Sags

I just received my Saggy Bags kit for my Heritage...

Any tricks to the install? The directions look to be fairly straight forward and should make 'em straight again.

no, the hardest for me was the slotted edge piece. i put some leather conditioner on the bag edge, used a screw driver to open the slot and started it on one end and pushed it across

Saggy Bags work great, and are pretty easy to install. You need to have a pretty good weight to use when gluing in the top panels. If you have a weight lifting set, a couple of 20 pound plates will work well.

Regards,

Bill

Yep...work great and really not that big of a deal to install. Once you start...it'll become pretty clear as to how it's done.

The worst part was having to wait on the lid glue to dry for 24 hours!

As long as your bags are in fairly decent shape, the install shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't exactly say that it's "easy" as some have said...I rather think it was a PITA, but I hear it's an even bigger PITA if your bags are in really bad shape. My bags were fairly new when I put them in, so on a PITA scale of 1-10, I'd say my install was about a 5. Make sure that you use plenty of the glue that is supplied...don't be chintzy with it...use it generously. And like somebody else mentioned...use a nice heavy weight on the lid...I used some dumbells. The difference in the bags with the kit installed is simply amazing!

I've had mine for about 3 years now, I think it was the first mod I did to the bike. They keep the shape of the bags looking good. Recently I’ve noticed that the top of the lid is developing a curve, like it’s caving in. My first thought was that the plastic that is glued to the lid was warping. I called the Got Saggy Bags company and explained the situation to the rep. He asked me how often I condition the leather, I told him twice a year. He told me that was not often enough and that it should be done about every 6 weeks. He said what was happening was that the leather was shrinking, causing it to deform the plastic. This makes sense to me, as the plastic lid panel is pretty rigid and does not appear that it would deform from the sun as I first thought. I just treated them with Lexol leather conditioner as the Saggy Bags rep suggested. I laid the lids on a flat surface and placed a weight on them as I did when I installed the lid stiffeners hoping this will help straighten them out. The rep told me to do this outside on a nice warm day and let the leather soak up the conditioner while sitting in the sun, but that could be a long wait here in New England. I’ll post again when I see how they turn out.

Edmo,

How did yours turn out. I put mine in about 3 months ago and they look great. Toughest part for me was the perimeter liners. Pain in the *** to get them in, but the effort was well worth it. I'll try to post some pics

Good info as well on the need to condition more frequently. Guess I need to buy some of that Lexol stuff. I have been using the Harley conditioner that came with the bike.
