DIY Cheap Mods
If I wanted to be a mod I would, its not up to me to decide what posts stay go that's a power you get with the mod badge.
Pretty easy request made by now five or six members, go through this thread and delete all posts that are not describig a cheap mod...what's the issue here?

How bout the ones here that are bitching, if it bothers you for someone to show/post their appreciation for an idea that you weren't smart enough to come up with...... just don't read this thread, if it bothers you that much, stay the hell out of it..... problem solved!!! If someone wants to post here they can, it's a community forum, don't like it, don't read it.
Just because a few step up and speak of an improvement doesn't mean they're bitchin' OR whinin'. It takes FOREVER to get thru the whole thread and I feel sorry for the new guys coming in.
I don't mind the chit chat so much as long as it's on topic, however, all the post with pics that are no longer available need to be mod'ed. A lot of mods are useless without the pics. Perhaps instructions for making them part of the post instead of hosting them on some server that will later be unavailable.
In an attempt to end the "chit chat"..... I'm not sure if this cheap DIY mod has been posted yet. But I didnt like the finish of my motor. I have an 01 FXST and the motor came with that cast color to it. like a dull grey color. So i decided to paint it. I cleaned the motor real good once or twice, made sure it was all dry. I didnt want to take the bike apart, so i bought some blue painter's tape and went to work. Used garbage bags to cover the larger parts of the bike. No lie it took me 3 hours just to tape everything that i didnt want to paint, but i got it perfect. Once all taped off i started spraying. Put 3 coats on in the time the can recommended.. came out prety darn good and looks way better than stock, to me anyway... Its been on there for a year and a half now and no chipping, peeling or anything. Looks like the day i sprayed it. I'm at work and cant post pics right now, but u can see the difference in my pics in my album. Total cost: $16
$4 tape, $12 for 2 cans rustoleum high temp semi-gloss

Dont know if this has been thought of. Quick detach locks are ~$50. Use a tie wrap and thread through the detach portion. It may not stop a thief, not much does though. It certainly will slow them down as they will need to figure out why it wont detach and will need either small wire cutters or take the time to cut with a knife. Cutting with a knife will take awhile with a tie wrap on each side.
Took a meat thermometer with the long stainless shaft and just stuck it down in the neck wiring portal of the triple tree, leaving
the plastic cover on the shaft - seems to fit snugly, and of course, I polished it first...
...When my boyeez is feelin' frozen, I get curious as to just how cold it really IS! Last Sat. morning it wasn't
even that bad (38) and we were freezing after a late start...had digested our breakfast. Once fed, were warm again.
