Good God!! Them are some big words (I had to look them up) but no matter, if you have an idea for a cheap mod, toss it out.
You don't have to be a genius to think up a neat cheap idea and you never know.
Your idea might be just what someone else is looking for or give them an idea how to do something entirely different.
Though I have to admit I can't think of any reason a bike would need either of those procedures, or anything even remotely like them.

If you do, just be sure to put some fingernail polish on it to make sure it doesn't come apart!

Hi Guys,

I thought I would share my recent DIY mod that I did on my Fatty. I have an electric gate that is operated with a little remote control like this one..

Trouble is... its a pain when you are leaving or arriving home, because firstly, you need to make sure it is in your pocket, and then you need to dig it out and hit the button. So....

I opened the remote up, took the battery out and with solder, I shorted the button out so that it is always on. I used double-sided foam tape to mount it inside the dash - out of sight.

Then I got a small momentary button from the electronics shop (radioshack) and mounted it inside the horn. There is enough room in there that I can reach down and hit the button without a problem. It is not mounted in the chrome cover, but the plastic horn itself. Then ran the wires into the headlight to pickup power, and back to the remote thats under the dash, and soldered them onto the battery terminals of the remote itself.

So now when I push that momentary button in the horn, 12v from the bike is given to the remote, and as the button on the remote is now shorted, it transmits!! The result is I can now open my gate without having to stop and fuddle around with remotes. AND the good thing is - it is completely invisible.

No pics yet, but could get some if you really need to see it.

Cheers
Mongrel

Default Free K&N Air Cleaner Cover

Took my football cover off a few weeks ago to help dry out a K&N filter that I had over oiled. Then just for the hell of it looked around for something I could replace the football with - and came across a pile of old AOL CDs that we all used to get in the mail. Almost a perfect fit, and looks pretty cool in different lighting situations, plus shows off the expensive filter. When it gets dirty or cracks - throw on a new one. Recommend putting a washer between the CD and the plate to prevent excess pressure and cracking.

Default El Cheapo Center Stand

This is on a Kawasaki but should work well on any bike with a crash bar that is at a similar angle. Made with a length of PVC cut and slotted at the top to support the crash bar with length cut appropriately to just support the bike - to make rolling up on it minimal effort. Worked well for me.
