It holds the bike up vertically.
If you look closely at the pic you can see that the PVC tips a little over center forward before it hits the lower part of the crash bars
That locks it in place so the bike can't fall over because its own weight is holding it in place.
My only question is do you walk it on the pipes straddling it so your weight isn't compressing the suspension?
Cause that might make it a bit harder and even break the PVC tubes.
I mean the stuff is tough, but we're talking about a Harley here not a hundred and fifty pound Moped.
I created a cheap bike mounted garage opener (using an old remote) last week........only violated one rule, I bought a momentary switch from Harley for $13.00 (because it was the only waterproof switch I could find) and I documented the process. I pasted the steps into a pdf file but don't know how to get the file into the forum. The reason for posting is because I read a thread where someone showed the opener mounted inside the Fuel Tank Console........problem is that console is metal and creates a prefect EMI Shield so the opener didn't work in that location. My mod works great and cost very little.........just some time.
Yea.......lots of fun. The remote had been sitting in my workbench since I moved into the house. I used to keep it in my riding leathers and everytime I rolled up to the garage I'd have to stop and feel around my pockets until I found it. I created a pretty detailed process and it turned into a large pdf.
I attached the remote on the forward side of the right back (tin) panel.
How to make a comfy Lick and stick passenger seat. Buy 8 small suction cups ($10). Drill 8 holes in the back plate of the passenger seat and cut of the end part of the backplate.
Hi all, This is a cheap way to have a little extra chrome and to fix peeling oil tanks.
Ok i know there are some who have asked about if you can strip the powder coating from chrome, So i desided to try it out for my self. I call it the 13.00 chrome oil tank.
First buy some Aircraft paint stripper the 5 min stuff. It cost 12.99 then remove oil tank and applie stripper to small areas at a time. As you peel off the Pc the chrome will shine, wipe the new chrome with a damp rag as you go. Then when finished wipe it all down, then i used turtle wax chrome polish to really make it shine. here are some pictures.
Look in the lower left corner of the oil tank you will see where it started to peel.
Yes it was scratched a little also.
you can see where i was wiping with the damp cloth.
This is after i polished.
And then finished
Hope this helps.
