We also used to wash aluminum covers in hot soapy water, then bake them in the oven to get more oil out, back into the water then oven again prior to painting. S.O.'s never happy about that, butcha gotta do whatcha gotta do.

put small washer behind it

sticker through hole, used og nut as small spacer
put kool black mesh stuff(thanks citoriplus) around wire 1st,

run wires neat up to plug in,otherside needed a larger bolt 1 1/4 5/16 24 thread,
and a nut for a spacer cost $1.60+tax end result is kool(dont ferget loctite)

already had kool mesh stuff so i dont count that, and smoked lenses already paid for as well so i dont count that either thanks to mud, citorpolus, and other for your inspiration!
Man, I LOVE this idea! I am going to try this later today (or tomorrow). That is such an easy solution to having them mounted on your forks and alot easier too! Did you have to lengthen your stock wires or did you have the mini apes on there? I just went and looked at my bike and I "think" the wires I have on there are long enough to reach that low but I am not certain.

I can't help but wonder what the law is here in California about having them mounted that low. I am going to do some research (and keep reading this thread since it may have been mentioned already) to see.

Thanks for the tip!

EDIT: California law added... looks like it would be illegal here in Calif... whether they would stop you for it is a different story. Man, I really like this idea, I may chance it. lol

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard.
Its a good idea putting fog or driving lights there, but your not the first one to think of it.
A couple of guys already have done it with good results.
If I ever find a small set of good driving or fog lights I like that's where I want to put them.

I still like the idea of putting the turn sigs there. lol

I hate them on the handle bars and moving them to the forks isnt much better but to have them out of the way down there is very tempting, even if it makes me a law breaker.

Have you considered something like these LED lights?

http://www.customdynamics.com/truflex_truwraps.htm

If you put them up against the underside of the triple tree they will be invisible to you, but visible to the one person who really matters.
The damn fool cager who may not see them down below.

Doing it with the LED lights you can have the signals where the cops won't bother you.
That stupid cager will see you and you'll still have the holes available to put fog lights down below.

Not a bad solution at all! Why haven't you done this. Just curious.

I honestly don't think 90% of cagers see the front turn signals anyway so I don't know that having them matters all that much.... other than being legal.

Agreed, they really are blind at times.
As for not doing it myself, well I have a bad case of that dreaded Italian illness known as 'Fundsalow".
It sucks to be poor.

The cams will make it SO much more enjoyable to ride!
I'm pretty sure they can see my signals - dual duty bulbs high and low:

Had to use footpeg brackets for crashbar mounts - a bit of overkill.
