Default Clicling noise in the forks
Hi Guys,

I noticed a slightclicking noise in the forks when i go over bumps on the road. Can't say exactly where it is coming from. Seems to be from inside of that "cowbell" fork shield. Any ideas ?

My bike just started doing the same exact thing about a week ago. Driving me crazy!!! I can't figure out the source either, hopefully someone on here has.

Mine's coming from inside my left fork tube. I'll let you know after I take it apart unless someone chimes in first.

I noticed a clicking if your heavy on the front brake or when you go over a decent bump, HD told me my neck bearing needs adjusted, they said its like a 30 min job.

there is a factory service bulliton for a front neck bearing plate on my 07 custom HD runs your vin number to see if your on there list its not a recall so you have to check yourself ....they wont contact you good news its free they need the bike for a 1/2 day for repairs

Re-torque the neck bearings, my local indy did it in 8 minutes! And would not charge me.

Is it difficult to do yourself (anu special tools required) ? Or all it takes is tightening that center crew on the forks ? Please some simple instructions for dummies

You will need a torque wrench and the proper sized socket.
And of course the factory recomended torque numbers,
So just pull off the chrome cover, flaten out the bent
retaining washer, adjust and reverse the steps.
If you have all that it's pretty darn easy.
