Will be picking up my '08 Anniversary FXSTC on June 2, #1746 of 2600. that's the day after I complete my Rider's Edge program. Have not ridden consistently in 20 years. was going to get a Honda VTX about 3 years ago, but decided to wait for what I really wanted in the end anyway..... a Softail! It happened exactly like many of you have said on this forum. I check out the Fatboy, Heritage, Deluxe, etc. When I saw the Custom, the decision was instantly made....it really did call out to me......I wrote the check last weekend and have been into a few dealers since then just checking out accessories, and every time I see a Custom on the floor, this huge grin just takes over my face.
I'm sure you folks that are on your 5th, 6th or 10th HD can remember the constant nervousness, sleep deprivation, and total lack of concentration in any area of your life waiting to get your first HD......well, that's how I am feeling for sure...
I swear to my wife that I felt EXACTLY like this 2 weeks before our wedding. She rolls her eyes and acts like she believes me
Congrats on the new custom. Waiting the last two weeks will be really hard for you I bought my first Harley back in 1998, a '99 Softail Custom..vivid black. I had not ridden a motorcycle since 1977 when I sold my '72 Honda 750 chopper. Boy I was nervous, but that big black beauty was going to be mine. Since then I have bought 2 other Harleys and love them all. Ride safe and be proud of the new bike...it is a really good choice. Jerry
I had a similar situation about a month ago. I just finished my motorcycle saftey class and waited two weeks for new Cross Bones. This was my first Harley as well. Heck it was my first motorcycle. It was worse than when I was a kid the weeks leading upto christmas. But one thing is for sure, once you get it, you will never wipe that grin off your face. Congrats on the bike. Keep the clean side up and be safe.
