Just bought a left over 07 Softail Custom and have a question or two.
Does anyone have the part number for the Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage I and stage II intakes? Also, what is the big difference between the stage I and stage II and is it worth the extra money to get the stage II?
How long should I wait before doing the pipes, PCIII, and intake. I have 360 +/- miles on her now. Should I wait until 500, 1000? Or is it safe to do it now?
You should wait until you get 1,000 miles. Dothe pipes, breather change, add the SERT then have the bike dyno'd all at once. Most shops won't dyno a bike before the break in miles of 1,000.
I did my stage 1 at 1500 miles check with your local dealer there is a service bulliton for the for front endbearing that is reguired for some 07 Customs( depending on VIN # ) my dealer didnt find it the first few time the bike was there have them checkgood luck
thanks everyone. i got red/maroonish color. I love the look of it, especially when the sun hits it just right.
Im definitely going to wait till the 1000 mile mark to do the pipes, intake, etc. Until then I'll have to ride around on this thing that sounds like a volkswagen. 1000miles will be here soon though, hopefully before the end of next week.
I still dont know the difference between the stageI and stage II big suckers.
I had my dealer install the SE air kit, V&H short shots staggered, and the power commanderIII before I picked up my crossbones. I haven't had any problems, but they said that won't dyno tuned it until 1000miles. I have 650 miles on it now. You can always just do the pipes for now, that way you won't have to get a Sert or power commander or anything like that.
I have an 07 fxstc also. Congratulations...you're going to love the bike. Seriously...why do you want the "loudest pipes out there"? You end up sacrificing performance for decibels. Get a good performance pipe with a good sound and forget the obnoxious stuff. I have the V&H big shot staggered and they sound and look great and they have a "power chamber" in them that is supposed to give much better performance than a standard 2 into 2 pipe
The difference in ness's stage 1 and 2 air cleaner is the size of the filter. i have the stage 1 filter and i'm glad. the stage two seems to stick out from the bike a little more than i want and would probably be in the way for me anyways.
