I am getting ready to pull of my stock buckhorn bars and controls, and upgrade to full chrome front end, with chrome bars and controls. (switches too.)
What I am trying to figure out is if anyone has experience with either the T-Pullback Drag bar like the Street-Slammer bar, or 16" or so Ape Hangers (with Chrome Controls, etc.)
I have never sat or rode a bike with apes, but I hear good things about comfort, etc on long rides. My only issue really is with the squatty-ness of the FatBoy, I personally don't think they really look like they fit on it.
As for the Drag Bar, what are the cons to going with a bar such as the Street-Slammer ?
RE: Help me decide which bars to put on my 06 FatBoy
I guess what i am going to say is not much help but with bars
what works for some dont work for outhers i ride with alot of friends and everyone feels differant some like apes some cant stand them and that seems true of most of the bars... The hardest part of getting bars is untill you do some miles on em you wont know if you like them... I like riding with my arms almost straight out (even with my shoulders) Irode with tall apes did not work for me i had a set of 8" pullback risers (one piece)
they were not bad... Ive run almost every type of bar... Hope you find what works for you... Mabey if you went to a dealer and asked to try out a few it might narrow it down some!
RE: Help me decide which bars to put on my 06 FatBoy
We all know that opinions and excuses are like certain things.......With that being said, I'll give you my opinions. All of the bars that you listed are great choices, and you should get plenty of input from this forum. For me personally, if I rode a Fatty, my 1st choice would be beach bars. I think that they look very cool on a bike with fat tires front and back. But, I like the looks of the Street-Slammer style bars. I have them on my softail standard, and love them. My suggestion for those type bars is Carlini Design. They're slightly more expensive than HD's Street Slammers, but I think that they're a better product. They make a fat 1.5" bar that would look great on a bike with an already fat front end........again, just my opinions. Good luck with your choices, and don't forget to post pics when you're done.

16" apes are great on a fatty. Mine is an 06 as well, my apes are 12.5" but I wish I went with 16. Will probably go taller in the future. You can look at my sig and see what the highway view between the apes looks like.
