I've also been told that the jack won't hurt the shocks.&nbsp\\; However I still use the two 2x4 by 1/2 thick rubber pads that came with my jack.&nbsp\\; You don't need to buy anything special.&nbsp\\; A piece of 1/2 wood should work fine.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
My J &amp\\; S jack slides under my Heritage and the wifes Deluxe but there isn't enough clearance under the far rail to get the pad under it.&nbsp\\; So I have to tilt the bike up off the jiffy abit to get the pad in.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

I find it hard to believe that 700+ pounds isn't stressing them without the use of the protectors.

If you put the jack forward of the shocks so you are right underneath the motor won't you miss the shocks completely?

I bet it is just the rubber bushing when you let the tire hang. My shocks are well within the frame.

I did buy the orange protectors but didnt use them, I bought the yell0w jack from sears and I jacked the bike up an 1/8" in front of shocks to put VH duals on over the weekend. Wasnt perfectly balanced, but&nbsp\\;stable enough to work on bike. Personally I made sure I didnt jack up at the shock area cause it was below the frame by an 1/8". More or less didnt look stable at that point rather than feeling it would ruin the shocks. GL

Deluxe uses the low profile shocks. The ones from the train will raise it an inch.

You should never jack up on the shocks. U need to buy the orange frame protector things... can't remember the name of them now... and always jack up on those as to clear the shocks.

If you did bend one... I would prolly just ride on it and keep an eye on it for leaking. Make a decision then.
Oil Leaking??? Sorry but there isn't any oil in the shocks, just a big coil spring. You didn't bend anything. That is a chrome moly shaft and it takes 1000's of pounds of force to bend it. You just need to lube the rubber bushing on the front and rear&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;of the shocks. Do not use WD-40. Use a silicone spray lubricant.
