I am going to buffalo from Canada to pick up my new Detachable backrest (Essentials Kit) \\;for my 08 Fatboy It is 40% cheaper that I did it \\;this way. Only thing is I will have to install it myself. Will I have to relocate the rear turn signal lights???? I may have bitten off more than i can chew.. But hell I am saving $400.00.

Thanks

You will have to relocate your turn signals which from what I understand just sticks them farther out. I got strut end lights made by Alloy Art, they really clean up the rear end. Sorry, I have'nt figured out how to do pics yet but you can order them direct or from Drag Specialties.(just an option for the relocation kit. As for installing all this yourself,It really isn't that hard. The instructions that come with the docking hardware are pretty good. Did mine in a couple of hours. Good luck.
HD Relo kit neededdealer did mine at purchase. Sticks the lights a little further back but not an issue appearance wise for me or any I have heard. \\;I love mine.

Luggage rack attaches and goes on and off with the backrestI recommend.
 \\;
NOTE: \\; I got touring wide back rest pad that matches Fat Boy seat etc and wife loves it. \\; The T-Bag line includes some bags that will fit over the wise back rest. \\; I am 500+ miles in a trip now using that set-up.
Hi,
 \\;
This is no big deal at all. Did mine in the garage. Everythig was finished within an hour. Bear in mind - you will have to take the rear fender off to access the bolts.
 \\; \\; DID MINE ON MY 03 SOFTAIL STANDARD,HAD TO RELOCATE BACK AND KIT CONTAINED \\;DIFFERENT SIGNAL MOUNTS.I HAD TO SPLICE \\; WIRES AND ALMOST CAME UP TO SHORT. JUST WANTED TO MENTIONTHIS AS THAT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT  \\;MADE MINE AWKWARD. \\; EASIER THAN I THOUGHT. GOOD LUCK.
