If there's a problem with them fitting the tank its probably something like the Deuce issue where the tanks shape is slightly different. On the Deuce that they are NOT 'supposed' to fit because they truely do have a different shape all it takes is a minute or two with a hair drier to soften the plastic ring a little so it will reform to fit.
Ok guys i started a thread on the quality off these a couple weeks ago..got 6 odd replys telling me they were ok.
I bought mine when i visited VIRGINIA from the UK in April , still sitting in my garage awaiting my re-spray..
Simple question ....
Do i fit em or e-bay em .
I will be stuffed for warranty as unable to return em to store where i bought them and dont want to keep replacing them in the future.
How can Harley sell this sort of stuff and still keep smiling??????????
Thought they were trying to ditch their reputation for poor products from the 70s

Reason: spell check
from the replies it looks like I'll wait to buy these atleast for another year till all the bad ones are gone and they revamp them...If the revamp them.
lol... the wife was gonna buy a set of black ones for my '05... The parts guy said the same thing '08 and up... So they will fit a '05 then? HD ****ed up on this one they could have sold a **** load of them!
It blows my mind they are making parts for 08 or 07 and newer bikes. Don't they know there are more 06 and older bikes on the road than 07 and 08's. I was going to buy the skull pivot bolt covers until I saw they were for 08 and newer only. How hard is it to make the skull pivot bolt cover to fit the 06 and older fatboys, of which there are thousands on the road.
I have the chrome ones, and they're ok. Pay attention to your typical mileage per tank, because with the flush mounts, your low fuel light comes on WAY earlier than normal. And, they're notorious for LEDs going out. I've had mine for about 4 or 5 months, and the little fuel tank looking light above the dots has already disappeared.
Damn we got the same set. Mine is doing the same thing, no pump and low fuel light way early still have the 6-7 blue led dots though.

Are you all talking about the "low fuel" light on the speedo or do the "flush mounts" have a low fuel light? I've got the HD Skull Gauge & Cap and I hate the way the cap always spins.
I love these when they work. My 3rd set have just started to fail ( 3 sets in 18 months!). The guy in quality control for these should get the sack. Great looking product let down by what seems an easy fix. Come on Harley, pull your finger out
Hey where are the pics ????? everyone keeps commenting on these caps but no one puts up any pics. I'm dying to see what they look like (especially in the dark)
