Some might have to ask the question to themselves, did i have a bike "most" of my life or only after the craze hit on TV and the likes?( question for people over 20), it's no bodies business but theirs for sure, but 5 or ten years from now might tell the tale as many people get caught up in many hobbies, you know looking at stuff and buying magazines and dreamin etc, but that's the american way, just go to Harley's website and watch there video's ... it's obvious and transparent why you need that Harley, and hey if close to the end of your life and have the money and want one -- buy it -- it's that simple, it's like most hobbies there is not really a intrinsic value to the hobby, or so it seems to me but that's the way it is.

As I write this I've been looking for a Harley as the craze with the help of the economy has slowed things down, i actually have 4 bikes right now (no harley's) and one i've had for over 20 years(rd400 - you know what that is with out google then your a real biker

i'm 45 now and had my mc license since i was 16. I love to ride my bike, can work on them when i need to. My point? -- no point.

One thing about the Harley is the motor and the torque and the sound at idle, it's just a beautiful piece of machinery and history. It's easy to get caught up in what people think, but don't, many on this board have said it numerous times, dont care what anyone else says, i just love to ride. It can be an emotional thing for sure, and it's the adage "i get it" or "I just don't get it"

I love the Softail Models like 06 FatBoy,or maybe a heritage classic.. the Roadking classic are nice as well.. hehe, i'm watching the paper and will know when I see it.

I guess you should have defined biker 1st and then it would be easy to help you out.

Enjoy!

Is this your question?

--Do I resent people buying $30K bikes on a whim and never learning much about them?

No, more bikes sold and more on the road is a good thing. Strength in numbers.

I would say the most sure fire way to identify a poser or weekend warrior is by their insecure forum posts in which they are looking for other members to support some pointless topic. The goal of these posts being to be little one segment of riders in order to elevate their own biker status.

Dude, grow up and get over it. It's not important if some one rides or why they ride.

The real question is, (or should be) What is a biker?..................Hard to answer, but I think its a mentality. A person who rides because they love it, and maybe because they enjoy the company of fellow bikers. I dont believe it has to do with what you ride, how long youv'e ridden, how far you ride, how much money you make, or have spent, or how much you know about motorcycles. A true biker loves riding motorcycles, and the company of fellow bikers. Everything else is just stereotyping. JMHO

Yes the more bikes on the road the merrier! Especially in my area, I stopped riding when i moved here for about 5 years as I was a moving target it seemed. I'd say in the last 5 to 7 years the bike population has grown huge and now i think are looking out a bit more. Now with Gas prices there even alot of small scooters, i say that lightly as some of them are 10k scooters

There is no reason to get all uptight first of all. Secondly, if i want to start a post on real bikers or poser i will and if you don't like it don't respond of even read it for that matter. I even poked fun at myself earlier in the post and stated i didn't come with the intension to have people get so rude, but so be it everyone is tough miles away. Maybe i should understand that you can play a role and don't have to be totally engulfed in the whole thing. working in a max prison...one thing you learn is first impressions are everything and people reguardless who they are size you up on that first impression good-bad or indifferent.

lastly.....i converse with mc club bikers all day at work and i can tell you this they are not just what you may call "REAL BIKERS" yes they made mistakes but they also do alot for their community that goes unnoticed and they stand for the a word that all of us associate with FREEDOM and that has a price.
