I don't want to sound alarming here, but it almost sounds like we have all reached a consensus; it doesn't really matter as long as you are using synthetic oil. I have no doubts one oil may be better than the others, but which one is beyond me.

Personally, I use Mobil 1. The only reason is I can get it in any town with an auto parts store. I used to run Amsoil, but I got tired of only having access to it from a single source.

On an opinionated sidenote regarding Harley's SYN3...I refuse to believe that Harley would allow such an important aspect such as oil to be an inferior product. These are $20K motorcycles that have 2 year warranties. I doubt Harley would be dumb enough to want people to put junk oil in their bikes.

My point of all this: Synthetic is synthetic and the little bit of difference in performance and/or quality is not worth the effort.

Little heads up here. Harley's "Synth" oil is not a FULL synthetic. It is a synthetic BLEND, made entirely from base dino stocks! Harley took the LOWEST bid from oil mfg's to produce their synth 3 oil. Spector which markets and produces a true full synthetic oil was one of the companies a few years back that didnt win the bid to produce and distribute harley's oil. Please don't think that just because the HD logo is on it, its great quality. Far from it. Half of the products Harley tags is junk. I get a chuckle from people who pay almost $10 a quart for a blend stock oil. Bad enough I pay $7.50 a quart for Amsoil which is made from a true synthetic stock.

I can assure you I am more than aware it is a Synthetic blend. With all the respect in the world, I think you missed my point. I was simply saying that you really can use whatever oil you want as long as you follow the service intervals.

See...now this is turning into a real oil thread. lol
