Chrome Console kit
Hello Guys
I pick up my new Softail standard this weekend (black). I had them put a removeable sissy bar and windshield on but what really juiced it up was this new chrome console kit for softails. Its on page 293 in the 2005 "wish book". Holy crap does it look hot on that black tank. I didn't like the black plastic seem cover and was going to get the 40$ dash extension but am glad I went with the console. Way trick! Will post a pic when I figure it out. Cool site, I am enjoying it. Bob

Hi Bob,
We have a bit in common, i also picked up my black Softtail Standard with removable backrest (no windshield, love the wind in my face no matter how cold) up this past weekend. Put on 120 over the weekend even though it was a bit cold out. Now it's snowing again, unbelievable, this winter will never end. I don't know how Clammy does it, living in Canada and all. Do they even get a summer up there? Anyways, i'm thinking of going for just the extension piece as i like the way the dash is now and that just carrys it the whole lenth of the tank. The kit your talking about is pretty sweet too so look forward to pics. And is this bike unbelieveable or what?

Hi Mike,
You would think HD would have add the extenion at the factory, I mean, come on...600 lbs. of chrome and steel and just a dash of black plastic to make her really stand out
We are getting ours this weekend but theres still a bunch of snow and wet salty streets up here in MN. So, if anybody needs to get ahold of me I'll be out in the garage for the next month, sittin on my bike, smoking cigs and watching the snow melt. Enjoy your new ride Mike. Bob

Hello Fellas and welcome to the "softail family". I own a black 03 standard that I have done a few things to. I , like Bob will be going with the dash panel and I found it at www.surdyke.com. Its a Harley dealer in Mt Vernon Ill. They give 20-50% off and no tax I believe. The part lists there for 31.96. Hope this helps ya. Sorry to hear winter is still around for you guys. Things here in Maryland are looking better. We have had a couple of real nice days......dont worry Im sending them your way. Be Safe....Henry
Hey Bob, Got my black 05 Standard around Thanksgiving. Added a windshield, passing lamps, grips, rigid sissy bar, luggage rack, and saddlebags.

Hi Patrick,
Nice bike, and you gots a ton of cool add ons. I do think were going to need a lugage rack like the one you have to pack extra clothes. The weather is so fickle up here next to Lake Superior. It can be 80* and with a wind change form the east it can drop into the 50's. Bet you get to ride all year round in Texas? All it would take was a nod from me and Katie would have us moved south in a heartbeat. Bob

Generally, I take the bike to work every day. This weekend it is supposed to be in the 70's so I'm sure we'll get out and ride some. All I can say is come on down to West Texas, you'll get a big welcome from everyone.
My wife rides and Intruder and even with her carrying her own kit, I still need to pack my T-bag. Quite often we camp when we are out and that requires more stuff. The T-bag has a slot that slides right over the sissy bar and the bag sits right on the luggage rack. I also have a barrel bag that for the passenger seat which allows me to rest my old back.
One of the reasons I selected the Standard was the buckhorn style handlebars. I had them on my old Sportster and they felt more comfortable on long rides.
You are going to love your Standard. Post some pictures when you have a chance.
