I had the same problem with my '04 FXSTI. I installed a Power Commander with the right map for my setup, then had it Dyno tuned. That got rid of the problem. It will still get hot in stop and go traffic or when I have to sit for a while, but as I am moving it is fine even, after a long run.
Good luck.

basically, once i changed the pipes/air and installed the power commander, the heat from the pipes and bike itself cooled down and very noticeable. normally the bike was running extremely hot where passenger would complain (well she was in flip flops) about how hot it was.

that is all done.

I've got a new Corbin and I've noticed heat off the engine (through and around the seat) for the first time. The stock seat was thicker and wider.

A sheepskin will literally rectify that situation for you!! LOLOL!!
Keeps your but warmer in the winter time, and cooler in the summer time as it absorbs perspiration believe it or not.

My wife ended up with second degree burns on her right leg from her Heritage while riding in Tennessee two weeks ago. We were riding in a lot of stop and go traffic on a warm Saturday morning, so rear cylinder not getting much air for cooling.

She was concerned that she was having issues getting used to the 96 and/or the 6 speed, or that her short legs were not able to clear the higher temp. due to having the rear suspension lowered. So in some respect it is nice to hear that others are having the same problem.

My wife spoke to the dealership where she bought her bike, and they told her that yes this engine runs hotter than her old 1200, or my 88.

She wants to install an oil cooler first, which will not be much help in stop and go traffic, and then research the pipe and intake solution. We both run synthetic oil on the recommendation of a former motor officer that I know.

Long story short............thanks for the input folks.
