I'm close to closing a deal on a Springer Classic (gonna miss the Triumph but gotta have more cubic inches) and would like some opinions on the Springer from some owners. Any regrets on the purchase or wish you'd gone another way? Couple riders have been good enough to give some great reviews already - can anyone else add anything?
Can't offer any advice cause I don't have one but man oh man I wish I did. Test rode one and liked everything about it other than the handle bars, need apes of some sort.
Dave, I already told you how I felt about my Springer Classic. I got plenty of riding in this weekend and let me add that I also like the fact that you really don't see too many Springer Classics out there. '06 is only the second year for them but I don't think this will be such a hot seller overall. Personally I like the fact that I own a model that is few and far between. But in the end you have to decide if it's right for you or not. Good luck! Scott
Howdy Dave, I don't own the Classic, but I do own the other Springer model. I don't have any regrets what so ever. I like the Springer because it is different and a lot of the custom bikes that I saw growing up had the springer front end. I knew that someday I would get me one and I finally did last year. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it the same way. I just think that Springers are COOL.
The springer front end is not for everyone. Unlike conventional hydraulically dampened forks, the springer uses, well springs. The front end tends to give in, rather than obsorb shock. This can make it a little tricky in the corners. Also, I don't care for the tiny front tire, especially during freeway driving. I ride an FLSTCI, while my riding buddy rides an FLSTSC. He runs just fine with me in the straights, but lags behind in the corners. He tends to fatigue alot sooner when we are out on a long ride (4 or 5 hours), and he complains about the stability of the bike when we are blasting down the freeway at 70+ mph. I love the looks of his bike, but its not for me.
I own a 05 springer classic. I have owned BMW 1150rt, RoadKing. You are buying a look with HD so go for the one you like the best. They all are good bikes. I had to have the retro look. It is solid in the corners but agree you are not going to cut corners hard on any HD. Just put on a set of VH pipes Looks sounds great. The bike is rare and I like that...front end is heavy....I love her[IMG][/IMG]
