I have a 2008 Heritage. So far the only mods are Rush 2" Slip-ons. I have looked over the posts but can't seem to fond the answer. So if it is there just let me know.
Every so often, I press the start switch and it almost sounds like a backfire. Does that indicate I need to have the download?
It doesnt happen all the time.
Was it hard to start before the mod? If not, and most likely, the ecu needs to be reflashed for the mods you made. I always thought if you change the pipes, you must also change the air cleaner and reflash the computer or add a PCIII.
You shouldn't need a download just for slip-ons. Try disconnecting and cleaning your battery cables. They might be just loose enough to have gradually built up some corrosion.
In any case it wont cost anything to try it.

I didn't notice it happening until I changed the pipes. It only had 750 miles on it when I put them on.
I wouldnt think it could be the battery, since it only has 1800 miles on it, but I'll check it out.
Two years ago when I put on different rear signals, I must not have tightened the battery cables tight enough. It took a month or so before I started to have start up problems. I checked the battery connections. There was a very small amount of corrosion that had built up on the contact face of the cable ends, sort of an off color look. I cleaned them up until they shined and tightened them real good. No problem since then.
I still can't believe that I didn't have them properly tightened, but I am the only one that worked on the bike. I would have been ranting, about morons working on my bike, if a dealer had done it.
Tom
i know exactly what your talking about i have rush 2.0 on my 2008 fatboy and every so often it happens 1 out of maybe 10,, ialso have the pc111 with the correct map, so who knows.hopefully we ll both hear some good answars on this thread,. peace
