Default 2004 softail with dual disc front. Any thoughts?

I'd like to do a dual disc set up on my 2004 Deuce and aside from the obvious need for slider and caliper, caliper bracket and brake line I see the master cylinders are different too. I'd like to do as much of the conversion as I can gradually. I'm wondering if the larger dual disc 2006 Dyna / Softail master cylinder is compatible with the 2004. It's bigger and too much master for the 2004 but will it fit? If not which should I use? I want the full benefit of the bigger master if possible.

I'm looking at using the chrome clutch bracket and master cylinder kit HD#46418-05A to get the project started. Anybody done this? Any thoughts?

why ?
a single 4 piston or 6 piston will stop & look better. not to mention the new lower leg you need.

Get yourself a 6 piston PM. They aren't cheap, but well worth the dough.

Default duel disk

I researched this back about a year ago. I'm doing the PM caliper instead but the Screamin eagle Deuce had a duel disk set up. You can use that set up and bolt it all on to your bike. You'll need to change out the master cylinder.

Interesting. I hadn't considered the 6 piston option. Anyone got a photo or a part number? Do you use the 11/16" (Harley #46418-05A) Master listed above or??

Didn't it also come with a larger (wider/fatter) front tire?

I'm a bit leary of putting too much brake on the front of any bike. Putting a set of dual calipers and rotors on to a stock skinny 21" tire would make me a bit nervious.

A lot of people think there is no such thing as too much brake, but any wheel/tire/brake combination that lets you easily lock up the front is too much.

I dropped a bike by locking up the front tire once and don't want to try that trick again. It hurts a lot and doesn't do the bike much good either.

Besides one of the better 6 piston progressive calipers with braided lines, decent pads, and a good two piece rotor is going to be at least as good and have a better 'feel' than a set of stock solid disks and calipers.

It will also be cheaper and a hell of a lot easier to put on.
Anyone who's done it can tell you that if the new dual caliper setup doesn't want to play nice, it can be a real pain in the azz to get working properly.

I would buy the floating rotors from HD at $120 each and the LRB Z+ pads at about $40 a set. The stopping power is great...no dust....they last a long time!!!

I've made a decision. I'm doing a 6 piston on my Deuce. I'm using a late model (2005 and up) touring bike master cylinder (it also fits 2004 and up Dyna). The mc fits no problem but the banjo fitting is smaller so you'll need a 10mm unit instead of the 12mm line you have now. In my case it was pretty painless because the original owner of this bike installed a goodridge brake line that allows you to mix and match. All I needed to do was replace the banjo, the bolt and the washers.
