No way I'm riding in any weather lower than 40 and only if its a bright sunny day.
But we do have about three or four guys around here that do traffic control for funerals and those nutburgers ride year round in any weather.
Rain, snow, ice nothing stops them from doing their job.
But in their defence they do wear heavy duty snow mobile suits in winter and have their Police model Road Kings fitted with 'training wheels' in the winter.
OK a heated snowmobile suit is a lttle extreme. You may think it's rediculous and I understand if you don't like to ride when it's 24 degrees, but I have have done it many times over the years. I wear an electric liner and gloves, leather jacket and a jean vest over that. A wool cap, full balaclava that covers my neck, long johns and jeans and my regular riding boots. I don't have a windshield. As long as my upper body and hands don't get cold the rest of me seems to stay warm. I'm not sayin I go for 8 hour rides but a nice 2 or 3 hour ride in winter is great. Even at 24 degrees......JMO

Got caught in the 30's in Utah going to Sturgis in '97 using 20W-50 after riding from LA through the desert heat. Only way to start the bikes was to hold the starter in while the bike kept RUNNING to keep turning it until oil flowed, otherwise it would just die. Sounded like a freight train taking off and slowly building up speed! Just another memory from that trip...

My problem with riding in 24 degree weather around here is two things.
One is that its just too damn cold for me. Twenty or thirty years ago I would do it too.
But I'm not a kid anymore and the heart medications I have to take today make it harder for me to deal with it. Even that wouldn't stop me for short rides if it were not for the fact that around here if its that cold out.
There is ALWAYS some kind of ice on the roads, end of story.
Two wheels, me, and ice, be it white ice, pink ice or black ice just do NOT get along.

I hear ya on the ice thing..........lots of sun in Colorado and the roads clear up pretty fast though....... and now that I had to go to three wheels, I don't worry about the slick spots much anymore.
And I hates that pink ice.........gets you every time.

WARG... Man I went on Sunday. It was 19* in McKinney when I pulled out and took Central to downtown to boot.
I had LJ's and 2 jersy shirts and a flannel with a sweater. Plus Jeans and my leather Jacket and chaps. It was not bad at all. Just the finger tips were cold.

Of course I swung by Strokers on the way home and they were fresh out of warm beer

Check back this evening 'cause I'm posting some pics from the McKinney and DFW runs.

I rode mine all last winter in jeans, a sweatshirt and a leather jacket. I didn't even have a hat or helmet! I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time. I stopped when it dropped to 18* while I was at work one night. That's cold. My shins were frozen from the inside. It took me hours to warm up again.
