Those who have either pipe will naturally vote for their respective exhaust. I've had both and still say the Bassanis are better in pretty much every way. What's interesting is that I took the Bassanis off my Softail and put on a set of 2-1/4 inch short open drag pipes and actually prefer the sound so that is what is on there currently. The Bassanis did everything better than the drags but I prefer the crack of open pipes.
Well, I'm torn between which exhaust system I want for my 08 Fat Boy. I'm looking at the Bassani Pro Street and the Vance & Hines Big Radius. I like them both. I'm looking for something mean looking that also sounds mean and nasty Lets hear some feedback on what you guys think!
I got a set of Bassani headers, they were GREAT,, sounded great,, looked great, but they broke,, right after the bend on the straight pipe back,, and its taken a MONTH to get them replaced,, and they still are not here,, Vance Hines customer service is got to be a 100% better then Bassani, they won't answer the phone, or return calls,, do not work on Fridays,, they just sucked in follow up..
My Slim had a set of Bassani Radial Sweepers on it when I bought it. Not the pips I would have chosen (not really my typical style). But, they look decent on the bike. I get a lot of compliments for guys in cars at traffic lights and the guys at work drool over it all the time.
They sound good. Really good. My neighbor says they 'just sound like power'. I have the slotted heat shields and you can see the blue at the heads, but it doesn't bother me.
They make decent power, sound good look good.
Chances are I may stick with Bassani for the next exhaust on this bike, but I'll probably go with something a little less 'modern' looking, more like the Fire Sweepers or Pro Streets. I would wager the Pro Streets perform even better than my Radial Sweepers.
But, at the same time, I am not opposed to Vance & Hines. Just about every bike around here that does not have a stock exhaust, has a V&H. Short Shots or Long Shots. And, they all sound pretty dang good!
Every other bike on the road is running big radius. I think 2 into 1 looks good on a Fatboy, they sound good too.
+1 one on this. Lots of 2-2 out there and they sound a little "thin" to me. My 2-1 BR sounds a lot deeper, looks good (to me), and the performance is great as you might expect from a 2-1.
