Default Exhaust Engineering Idea?

Im sitting at a stoplight this evening my girl is just ahead of me on the Dyna on my left and a softail pulls up more next to me on my right.

Dyna engine is thwopita thwopita doing its dance.... engine convulsing within the frame like a spider monkey on meth... the softail engine.... not so much. In fact is isnt moving much at all and I began to wonder....

Hypothetically, if you made a softail frame in your garage, and used 2 inch pipe for the downtubes and underside.... can you forsee any reason you couldnt route the exhaust out of the engine and into the frame?

Just let it dump out at the swingarm?

Or just a pipe dream... pardon the pun.

2" to me, is not a large enough diameter for a performance pipe. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I think the frame would get too hot and lose its rigidity. It'd look cool though.

ok... 3 inch pipe?
and I am sure there has to be some sort of heat treated pipe that could be used that will withstand the potential operating temperatures without risking structural failure... right?

You might be able to get the integrity right. But what about mounting stuff to it.

Even though the softail has a counter balanced motor it still moves slightly with torque. It would probably be pritty tough to connect the exhaust to a frame without some flexable connection.
