Does anyone know what is the widest tire that will fit an 06 Softail Deluxe without making any major mods??? I believe stock is a 130 and it looks like I have plenty of clearance with the fender, pulley, and belt guard. I have contacted a couple dealers and they all tell me something different. They all tell me something different as to how wide my tire is (MU85B16 77H ) I've been told it's a 140 and 150 but if im measuring correctly it's a 130.

If the tire on the rear of the 06 Deluxe is the same as my 06 Fatboy (I think it is), then it's a 150. I'm not sure about tire size, but I was told my a guy at www.bikersimage.com that I could replace my 3.5" rear wheel with a 4.25" width wheel. So that would mean using a wider tire right?
Without even considering belt clearance, my 150 tire rides pretty close to the fender, on the left side. I would think a 180 would be a very tight fit.

I looked up the specs on a Fatboy and in 2006 the tire is a 150/80-b16 which is not the same as a Deluxe. I saw an 08 Deluxe at the dealer today and there is definetly more clearance all around on my bike. I have about 3/4" clearance per side on the fender, and also about 3/4" with the lower belt guard. The swing arm, pulley, and brake are no where near the tire. I am ready for a new tire that is why I want to go wider but have no intention of changing the rim. I think even if my tire is a 130 that I have the room for a 160, but don't know if it will fit on the stock rim...
I believe the stock tire is a 140 for the Deluxe and the Heritage and Fatty for those years are a 150. The reason is that Dunlop does not make a WWW in a 150. I believe Metzler or Avon, can't remember which, makes a WWW in 150. The bike will take a 160 but I don't know of a WWW in that size.
