While I was leaning in a turn last summer, my floorboard scraped the pavement and I even saw sparks . At the next stop, I started comparing my floorboards with my two other friends' (who ride metrics) and noticed that theirs fold up. My Heritage is an '08. Do other Harleys have folding floorboards? My friend has a little block of steel under the board that gets worn out when it touches the pavement and it's easy to replace. The floorboard stays intact.
Can I buy the folding brackets without replacing the whole thing? I've search the HD Web site but can't find what I'm looking for.
Yours do fold up, there probably just tightened to much. I leave mine so they are just tight enough, so they can move up and down freely. GOOD LUCK You go Softailgirl !!!!

You've got to be kidding???? They fold? But they didn't even budge when I leaned over.... Next time I visit my bike, I will work on that. Thank you so much. I looked on the HD Web site and never saw anything which got me thinking that you're probably right.
Thanks!
P.S. My "metric" friends were having fun teasing me about my expensive bike with non-folding floorboards..... I'll get back at them!
The only thing your boards are missing compared to your friends are the skid bolts. They can be fabricated using a simple carriage bolt and an acorn nut. These help to save the edges of your board. But remember this will also lower the contact point of the board and cause it to touch that much sooner.
No problem Girl, there's 2 nuts and 2 bolts on each floorboard. The nuts are to tight. Just loosen them a little till they move freely, your good to go.

Of course they do! How do I know? Last year I parked my bike, forgot the kick stand, almost dropped the bike and the left floorboard folded up, thank god no damage at all.
