Default Passenger Foot Peg is Limp

The left side passenger foot peg on mine will not stay upright. I always have to move it back up after a ride...probably on the order of about 15 degrees of motion The other side is fine. There is a washer/spacer between the peg and the bracket pivot point designed to give it some resistance but evidently it is not enough. There is nothing to tighten since it is held in place with a circlip on the pivot shaft. I know this seems trivial but It should not move and it is a bit annoying. I guess I could probably add a washer to make it tighter...kind of a "Jerry Rig" though. Anyone had/solved this silly issue and have any suggestions.

Thanks for any info.

You could take it apart and check that spacer. Some pegs have bent ones that will keep tension on the peg to keep that from happening. Maybe yours just need a little more bend to it.

That spacer should be in the shape of a "D" with a slight curve to apply pressure and keep it taunt. Like 1of2 stated you may need more bend in it.

Those thin spacers (springs) are junk. I had the same issue. Disassembled and found a lot of corrosion/rust on both of them, and one broke into two pieces -- and this was within a month of owning the bike. I replaced them with washers, and replaced the pin and retaining ring with a bolt and locknut kit that HD sells.
