Default Experience w/ Firehouse Customs???

I am looking at a backrest from Firehouse Customs but would like to know if anyone here has had any experience with them. I have read some other good reviews and would love to have a backrest for my soon to be baby. Thanks Chris

I bought a backrest from them for my 08 Heritage a couple months ago and I'm generally happy with it. However, it pushes me forward about an inch which at first I thought was a good thing because it put me closer to the bars.

But I noticed on a 130 miler the other day that the seat felt less comfortable and my back was aching. I know what the deal was with the seat, the backrest put my weight over the more narrow front of the seat.

Not sure about the back issue. I'm thinking maybe it was putting an arch in my back.

I'm going to try to "customize" it a bit by bending it back more. I read of someone else having success at doing that.

If I can't get it the way I want I may look at other options to include a Kuryakyn backrest or a Mustang Seat w/backrest.

Default Firehouse Custom

I purchased a backrest for my 2008 Deluxe. I only use it on long trips. It is a little springy but works well. It does move you forward though. I would do business with them again.

Yea, I tried mine on the wife's 08 Deluxe and she didn't like it. In her case it put her too far back and as you said there was too much give to it. I think the higher pillion on the Heritage prevents that.

I did find that if I put a piece of hard rubber between the backrest plate and the Deluxe seat rail it had the same effect. Wife still didn't like it.
