Well, unless I get a call back from my local dealers crawling back to me, I'm probably getting a used one from Dream Machines in Dallas. They seem to have the best prices on used somewhat close to me. They have mostly 07's and they're all awesome looking. Any major differences between 07 and 09? I know the 6 speed is on there at least.
They must have a large volume of bikes getting sold here because they're not taking anything under 19k for a new black bike. I'm not broken up about it. Besides they were rude as hell at the place closest to me when I showed them the dealer invoice I got. They just kept saying, "No dealer on earth sells for under MSRP", over and over again. lol. I finally offered 17 as my highest price and they wouldn't budge so I walked and they just let me walk out the door. Didn't even try to stop me and I was only in there for about 15 minutes. Then the guys that I called to see if they could beat these guys quoted even higher. That doesn't even come close to making sense.
So I'll probably be getting a used bike real soon. They seem like they're in great shape down there and it's only a 3 hour ride. Besides that, they have the same sticker price on all of a given model year regardless of color. So I can get a nice two-tone for the same price as a black one.
So, thanks again for your help everyone. You all made sure I wouldn't make a huge mistake, especially DukeofEarl for that cyclebuy tip, that really stirred the hornets nest in the dealership hahaha.
Hey, like Ive read it on these forums a million times before... At the end of the day, YOUR the only one who has to be happy! Sounds like you are... Good Luck with the new scoot... Ride Safe
Yup, one year shy. I knew I should have picked up that 08 883. But no, I bought a used 1200 instead. Oh well. So, I tried negotiations over the phone today with the other dealer around here. I gave them all my info and what I expected. The guy said he had to chat with the floor manager. I called him back a few times throughout the day but no luck getting with the manager...the whole day...8 hours. So anyway, I'll be calling them back tomorrow morning to see whats up. I'm also checking out those ebay bikes. I've been watching it but none of them have been that low recently.
By calling him your appearing too anxious...just move on to calling other stealers!
good luck!
I did a lot of research on the 07 vs. 08 vs. 09 FLSTC's before I bought mine. Most of the positive feedback was coming from the 08's for some reason, but like Joe Diver said, it's mostly cosmetic. I heard from a few 07 owners that their bikes were overheating constantly w/ the 96ci engine (new to that model year) and had a some noise issues with 5th gear. With regards to the 08 vs. 09, a few people don't like the tank's paint scheme or the tassles on the 09 saddle bags (which can be removed in a couple minutes). I know the 09 has a wider passenger seat, but that's the only major difference. I'm happy with my 09 so far, but I've only had it for 3 months now. When it comes down to it, go with whichever model year fits your budget and makes you happy...There are some really good deals on used bikes with REALLY low mileage nowadays!
The '09 FLSTCs also have the "cateye" dash panel and half-moon driver boards (like the Bones, but in chrome instead of black), plus the black-and-brown leather tank panel.
I just picked up my '08 Deluxe used from an indy dealer with only 717 miles on it! Got it with TONS of extras and paid $6000 less than it would have cost straight off the dealer's floor. You can find great deals out there. Just don't be in such a hurry. Use the internet to find them. I used ChopperExchange and found mine. They can ship it to you from anywhere for about $500.
No matter where you buy the bike or who you buy it from in Oklahoma you pay the tax and title fees at the DMV not at the dealership. I lived there for a few years and bought a few cars there. You always planned for the hit at the DMV when you bought anything there. Good luck on your search.
1st dealer that wouldn't deal called me today and asked if I was ready to buy a bike. I told him I was ready last week when he wouldn't deal and I DID buy a bike on Friday just like I told him I was! gotta luv it
Looking at an 07 in Black Cherry for 16k with only 2600 on it. This dealership is only gonna give me 5500 on trade for the sporty though. Even with that I make out a whole lot better than I was with people here. It looks like I might be picking it up on Saturday, if not then it'll be Monday.
