Well today while cleaning the Y2K Fatboy up I noticed some oil on the left lower frame rail and left front corner of the engine. Did a quick clean of the area and warmed up and let it sit. Found the leak coming out of a rubber boot on the left front of the motor I am unbale to locate the boot on any of the parts diagrams I have.
Here is what I got and hopfully you can help me identify it and tell me how to replace it.
On the left front of the motor there is a rubber boot that seems to plug into the lower portion of the crank case. The rubber boot is also located almost directly behind the bracket that holds the shift linkage There are two wires that run from the boot to a harness just below the voltage requlator. Does anyone know what the hell this is and how to change it out.
its the grommet coming from the alternator/stator wires. comes out the ft. of the primary case just below the crank pos. sensor. primary overfull ?. just change oil filter ? steve
looks like the grommet is made on the stator wires. might ask dealer. i think i'd drain primary, remove primary cover. and see if i could clean and reseal. maybe a dab of clear silicone?. steve
