front end wobble between 40-50mph

I have a '92 FXSTC that had a front end shake/wobble. It was only noticeable during
deceleration at about 45 mph. If I removed my hands from the bars, they would shake
rapidly side to side about 1 inch. I didn't have my hands very far away from the grips
when it did this. The shaking would stop when the bike decelerated down to about
35 mph. I do most of the maintenance on the bike, but I wasn't sure what the problem was. I asked a service tech at a H-D dealership. He said that was fairly common on a softail. He said the steering head probably just needs adjusting. For $22.50 they did the adjustment and shot in new grease...No more shake/wobble.
