Default Baffles or no baffles that is the question!

Narrowed my selection down to Freedom Performance Sharktails or Samson True Dual Longtails. Wanted to get you guy's opinions on both. From what I've seen and read, Samson has intergrated baffles. I am assuming that, that means you can't take them out. Freedom's exhaust you can. What do you guys think that are running baffled longtails. Do you like them or are they too quite? Samson does have some that are baffleless but they are about $200 dollars more than the ones that are intergrated. Give me your thoughts!

I've got Samson 33" fishtails without baffles, if my memory serves me correctly it didn't cost me any more for these vs with baffles....

I has been almost 5 years since purchased...so I suppose a lot in terms of price and options has changed.

Freedom makes a really nice true dual system...but they are more expensive then the Samson system. I think that Samson's without baffles, even if they are 200 dollars than there baffled system, should be at around the same price as Freedom's, if not a little less.

I don't neccesarily want the obnoxiously loudness, I just want a good sound, good performance. I basically have stock pipes which I gutted and made poor boy drag pipes so, anything would probably be better.

Fishtails without baffles = obnoxiously loud. If you really arn't feeling the loudness, id get the fishtails with baffles. Unbaffled fishtails are definetly not for everybody, they are very loud, and have a raspy sound, not a hot rod sound...more of a low rider sound...low and slow as they say. The best way I can describe it it like this: Fishtails without baffles sound like an old Chevy straight 6 motor with a split manifold and skinny straight pipes...very loud and very raspy.

If you want a nice smooth hotrod sound, and frankly better performance, get baffled fishtail pipes. The extra back pressure will help your bottom end. They are still plenty loud, they still look really good, and you'll catch a lot less flack from law enforcement as well.

JMHO of course...

If it were me, I'd be VERY CAREFUL about anything that's too loud these days. Don't know if you're aware of it or not, but one of the rags I subscribe to, either Easy Rider or American Iron, has been posting all kinds of articles about local and State law enforcement agencies that are really cracking down on decibel levels. I love loud pipes myself, but everyday there are more people cracking down on not just loud pipes, but aftermarket pipes across the board.
