Notice they do not force the bags to conform to a boxed shape. I do wish they had included a side support, but am happy enough with the results. Still looks fairly "normal".
looks real good Zeke.....just like new.
From what I can see, the sides look good.
Why doesn't Harley place them in all bags when new??
I bought some on ebay, covers front/bottom/back and lid glues in about $50.I looked at used bags as mine were badly distorted. When I saw 3-400 bucks I decided to refurbish.I cleaned, kiwi black polished my bags and installed shapers, they look better than any bags I see on rides. It took them from a 5 to a 9,for about $50 total and 3-4 hours including leather refurbish.I noticed when I put the lids in it made the skirt on the lid resume its original shape.
I just finished installing the kit from Saddlebag Shapers. $41, plus shipping. The kit came with twice as much E-6000 cement as I thought I'd need, but if you run out you can get more glue at Walmart (look in the Crafts section). Bags look great! I used a toothbrush to apply polish to a couple of scratches, buffed it out, and then used Armorall for Leather on the rest.
If the front of your bags has collapsed, these kits will bring it partially back but it will never look like new (so I'm told). No big deal, I'm delighted with the results.
I put "Saddlebag Shapers" on my '03 Heritage and loved 'em. One month later, I traded in for a 2012 Heritage, came with "GotSaggyBags," and they suck. Can't open the bags wide enough for a 6-pack, and the old lady can't fit her suitcase-of-a-handbag in there. That is because it is a solid-frame girding the top of the bag along all 4 sides, and is only about 4-5" wide.
There was a you tube video by desertspirit1 that showed how to add aluminum
stiffeners for the outboard edges (of the main bag) which still allowed flexibility to get items in your bag.
As for bossbags, go ahead, spend the $$.
Gonna order me some saddlebag shapers, and go to Lowe's and buy me some some aluminum ridges (and small screws/nuts), put in an afternoon of labor, and be happy (again).
My sincerest apologies....my (then) recent purchase of a 2012 Heritage was NOT equipped with "Gotsaggybags", but instead with "Ride Solutionz" iron upper frames. My bad. Oops.

Still recommend saddlebagshapers.
It's never too late to say you're sorry (at least that's what my Wife keeps telling me)
For what's it worth; even though I have hard bags now, I put gotsaggybags in my leather bags and they worked great.
