Hey guys...I just wanted some opinions on purchasing my first bike. I originally posted this in the new user forum, but thought I might get more help in this section.
I am gonna go with a Night Train. I was thinking of a brand new bike, but my bro in law suggested going used if it had low miles since I could save money and maybe get some mods on it already.
I found an '06 Night Train online tonight. Sounds like a good deal to me. Here is the description of the bike:
2006 Harley-Davidson FXSTB NIGHT TRAIN, 2006 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FXSTB NIGHT TRAIN, Black Joker Machine Chopper Pipes, Black Forcewinder intake, wide rear tire, Power Commander II. Security System, 2775 miles, and more! $12750.00
What are your expert opinions on this bike? Can you tell me the differences in an '06 and '09 models. Any pointers on buying a used bike? Should I take it somewhere to get checked out, etc?
Thanks in advance for any pointers/tips.
There are some great looking rides here. I've spent a few hours just looking at pics.
I haven't looked book value up but that sounds like a reasonable starting point. I like that this bike has such low miles and a nice Stage 1 upgrade...Would definitely be worth checking out and offering less than the asking price...Good luck!
Great deal! I got an o7 Deuce with some extras but the engine is stock except a stage-1. Paid 13,200 with 5,000miles. It is 96" with 6 speed. Just make sure it is the bike you want.
I would try to find a good 07 though. Upgrade and get the 96"/6 Speed.
I started out shopping for at least an 06 (I wanted the 200 rear tire)... then talked myself into looking for at least an 07 (I wanted the 200 rear tire and the bigger motor and 6 speed tranny)... Now I'm on my new 09 Night Train... Funny how that works.
how wide of rear tire? if he had installed the heartland kit i would say it would be worth it.....because that makes them look that much meaner.....but the fuelie iin the 96 ci sure is nice....not to mention the 6 speed tranny

My opinion - if you can afford it, buy new. Then you can mod it the way you want it, and you'll know everything thats been done to it - including how it was broken in.
I bought my '07 Train earlier this year with 750 miles for 14.2k. If I were you, I would look for an 07 or newer just for the 96" and 6 speed (LOVE IT!).
