several months ago the signal lights on the left side quit working. I have checked all that I know to check. I thought that it might be the the circuit board behind the taillight where the signal lights plug in might have gone bad but I took the one off my Dad's bike and still its the same thing. Even the green left turn arrow on the speedo doesn't even come on. I need help! This is driving me nuts!!!
Well if you have checked everything, bulbs , broken or shorted wire and stuff like that, then you gonna have to have ur turn signal module checked. Something you probally have to take to the dealer and get your shorts ripped. Maybe someone here can help ya. Good luck.
I had the exact same problem last year, first I thought the left switch was bad, looked at the wiring diagram and checked the power. I got power when I hit the left turn signal switch but no power coming from the turn signal module. I suspected a bad turn signal module. I fooled around a bit and put a light bulb in series in the left turn signal output circuit, it worked fine since then. I don't really know what causes that, it could be resistance who knows, that was a tricky fix.
I'll have to look into that and see if that might have something to do with it. The odd thing is though is when I arm my alarm system even the little green left turn arrow below the speedo doesn't even flash but the right one does.
I've had an intermittent problem with my left signal too. I am yet to open the switch housing but everytime I think I have it fixed it works for a while and then quits. I ahve not checked as to whether or not it comes on on the dash when I hit the alarm. I assume there must be a piece of wire that has had the sheathing come off a bit somewhere and is gounding out. It always works on the signals when I hit the alarm so I ahve ruled that out.
