...for a 2008 Softail Custom. I am thinking of a medium size bag where I can stuff enough in for a few days on an upcoming road trip. The Custom has a rather small backrest with limited area to rest the bag on (I have a luggage rack on it already) because of the backrest angle. Can somebody recommned something...maybe with pictures...
What bag is it that goes on the front bars? I have seen a roll bag before on the front above the headlight. I wanna be able to do that on my over night trips. My T-bag is set up right now on the back of my bike for Myrtle. Heartlands sissy bar is really low and I got my bag on with just a few straps and one bungy. Its on there 2. It doesn't move.
I use the HD Bobtail Fender Rack Duffel Bag It's made for the bobtail rack so it goes on and comes off in no time. Plus it has a handle on top for carrying like a duffle bag.
Here it is on the bike.

Ah yes, the slanted seat is a problem. I have a T-bag (can't remember the name but will look when I get home) that works well. I place the bag on the seat and there is a D-ring on each side on the front of the bag. I take straps with hooks on them, place a hook through the D-ring, wrap the strap around the passenger footpeg bracket and back up to the D-ring. It keeps it from falling from side to side and keeps the bottom of the bag firmly on the seat. I had another T-bag that constantly needed adjustment - hated the thing and bought this one right after I got back from my first road trip with the Softail Custom. Oh, just remembered, it's a Nelson Riggs T-bag. I'll look for a link and post it for you.

If placing it on the seat, don't use the vanity cover for the straps. it won't close properly because of the angle of the seat.

Thx a lot.
Ya might want to look into http://www.roadreadybags.com/ . I have a T-bag, and also a smaller handlebar bag (that scuffs the triple trees and I never use because of it) made by road ready. I think the road ready bags are WAY better than the T-bag. They're 100% water proof with out a cover, and just seem better over all fit and finish. BTW.... I'm not an employee, I just like their stuff
