How secure does it feel? I have a Nuvi 660 myself and saw that bracket, was just afraid of it vibrating off the ball mount running down a backroad or something. Looks great, nice job on the install!
I put 250km on it yesterday to test it out and it seemed solid. Since it doesn't stick up a lot, it doesn't vibrate much. I feel safe that it won't fall.
If you pop the cradle on and off a lot, it might get a bit loose after a while, but the mount comes with a stick on attachment so that you can add a tether strap if you want.
I won't be putting a tether strap on mine until I find it getting loose.
Hardwired means that I don't have to plug the power cord into a cig lighter or anything else. I cut off the cig lighter plug-in from the power cord, soldered a fuse holder onto the power cord, then attached the other end of the fuse holder directly to the ignition switch.
The power cord is hidden when not in use and tucked safely away.
When I pop my cradle with the GPS onto the mount, I only have to plug the power cord into the cradle.
Very nice job! Are you related to William Shatner?

You'll still need your adapter to lower the voltage from 12V to 5V.
