Default windshield help ..Please

I had my windshield cut down. I'm happy with the height and curve but I just noticed a slight problem.

The top edge of the windshield has some damage done to the surface where some tape was applied prior to the 'cut'.

Right now you have to look to be able to see it but I wonder if it will get darker as dirt enters.

I tried cleaning with "Harley Spray can Polish" but the 'smudges' just won't come off.

too late? just live with it?
If it gets bad... I can buy another shield but can this one be 'cleaned'?

I would use a little bit of goof-off on the smudge.

You might want to try Nova windshield cleaner. They have a mildly abrasive formula made specially for windshields to remove minor scratches and smudges. I use it all the time and works good. You should be able to purchase it right from your HD dealer. It's also in HD's big book catalog. Good luck.

Use a very small amount of Mequiers Plast-X.
If you have a small buffer the better or just good old fashion elbow grease.
Great for getting minor scuffs like bug collisions or decal glue burns off.

Be careful with anything but plastic polish I have seen plexi crack when some cleaners or solvents are applied if it does not say safe for plastic on the label I would not risk it.

I hope you kept you scrap piece? I just cut down my windshield a week ago, and WD40 the scrap just now, no cracking on that Lexan polycabonate.

But yours may differ, so whatever you use as a adhesive cleaner, always test on the scrap if you can.
