The $750 nostalcic saddlebags for the Deluxe are not leather, but vinyl wrapped. My wife last night accidentally scraped one as she got off. Her heel put a tear in it. It looks like a tear on a cheap vinyl sofa. My fxst hard bags were leather and were scuffed a few times, but never ripped like that! It looks awful and I'm sick over the whole situation. It's not a very big tear, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. Anyone know what to do to repair vinyl? I don't want to make it look worse leaving glue spots, etc. Please help!
You may want to talk to a good shoe repairman. SOme of the small independent shops can work wonders...Take the bag to them and let them tell u if it can be fixed.
Not seeing it I'm thinking you may be able to use contact cement and smooth it back down enough to be acceptable. I have some 3M spray stuff that is pretty hardcore.
Several fixes are available. The first is to have a pro do it. Ask at a car dealership who does their repairs. Colors On Parade is a chain that does this kind of fix.
If that does not pan out, you can always fix it yourself. Permatex also makes a repair kit. I have one and have made several repairs. They usually turn out great. Black is the easiest, because you have no color mixing. The 9 buck kit had a tool that you have to heat on an iron. The Pro kit has a plug in heating tool.
