I posted this in the Sportster section but I will post it here also.
My wife wants a gear indicator on her 95 XL1200. I ran a search and came up with nothing. I checked J&P and they had some but they were pricey. Any one have any suggestions on places to look? Her Sporty has speedo but no tach if that helps. I appreciate the help. Thanks
On a Sportster, if you can count to 5, keeping track of what gear you are in is pretty easy. Where it gets complicated is on 06 up dynas and 07 up big twins is that you need to be able to count to 6. You must be able to subtract also, often w/o a calculator, since you need both hands on the bars. For instance, if you are in 5th gear and you downshift one gear, in your head, the mathematical formula would be 5-1= 4.

What happens if you're in 5th gear and just as you downshift a few gears, you see this fantastic looking, sexy hottie walking down the sidewalk towards you with hardly anything on, and you forget the mathematical formula?
1=1,+1=2,+1=3,+1=4,+1=5-1=4,-1=3,-1=2,-1=1! new Harley math, learning this is a lot cheaper than a gear indicator.
How long has she been on her bike? it usually comes with a little time to learn the engine to get the speed & sound for the feel to know what gear shes in..
