My buddies and I just recently talked about this. I believe I have logged more miles in the rain than most of the guys I know have ridden in dry weather. I road in four hours of rain last Sunday on my back from the Smoke Out in North Carolina. Several years back I caught about seven hours of rain coming back from Daytona, sure wished I had trailered that trip! Getting caught on my beater bike hanging on the apes is brutal in the rain, nothing to hide behind.

Rain sucks, riding in the rain sucks, not having the proper gear really sucks. I spent the coin on some very good rain gear and I can't say I have any complaints with my choice of gear. This is where riding a Bagger or saddlebag bike is a bonus.

Like to arrive at my destination dry(too many years of getting drenched)coming back i dont care.going back a couple of months had to get to the dealers for some work done to the bike. since we had rain for almost 2 weeks kept putting it off, found a day that looked cloudy so rushed in there. and beat the rain.on the way home it poured , no sooner than i left. i laughed and chuckled to myself all the way home, had a great time, even found puddles to ride through, think all the cagers thought i was nuts, and suprisingly seemed to keep well away.hehehe........

I'm heading out for a trip to the left coast on Monday rain or shine. Weather reports are leaning towards rain for the next few days.
I was hoping to camp along the way for most of the trip but not in the rain.
Riding in rain is one thing I can live with but camping not so much.

The way it is, I ride almost every day, the 35 miles to work. But if I step out the door and it's raining or there is like an 80% chance of rain all day, I'm taking the car.
I hate showing up for work wet or having to take off all that rain gear.
The ride home? I don't care if I get wet, although the bike get's filthy.

Well just mowed the lawn, got to clean up and go ride! Skipping the fray up in DC this year.

Like a few have said, getting caught in it is one thing, but another for going out for a good time with friends. And it's not that you can't have a good time with friends in the rain, but alot of other factors weigh in.
Like cagers who don't see you, roadwash, etc...

I also live on a private dirt road which turns into a mudhole when wet. I do not enjoy spending the time it takes to clean the crap off just to go out for a bit in it.

Again, getting caught, no biggy, planning on a wet day, Nope!

RAIN sucks!

Here in N. Florida its been raining for a week straight (over 14" so far) and it sucks. The bikes haven't been out of the garage since it started. If I need to go some place I take the Jeep. Isn't that why God invented Jeeps? For rainy days. My bikes have seen plenty of rain, but not on purpose.

After reading these post I'am thankful we live in a country that we have a choice to ride when we want to, not because we have to.
There are certain road conditions that for safety reasons I will not ride. Here in Indiana our motto is if you don't like the weather, Wait 5 minutes!!!

I've never deliberatley ridden any of my bikes in the rain. I choose not to ride in the rain more for safety reasons vs any other reason, especially living in Florida where we get violent rain....
