Amen...I think it rains every day during the summer....might only last a few minutes with a bit of thunder but it's almost like clockwork.
Yea and you see those bike adds for sale that state, never seem rain.............LOL!
I ve rode in rain a few time and even left the scooter out in the rain too..........washed it off pretty good too. My first long ride in the rain was from Corpus up to Austin, now that was and experience and on a Rocker C too!
Houston is a very wet town. Last month (in Pearland) we recorded over 18 inches of rain. This month it's hardlly rained. Go figure.
I posted this yesterday not really trying to start a debate or create conflict I just didn't understand the whole "never rode in the rain" thing.
Life has a way of smacking you up-side the head sometimes. My wife has been practicing on my bike lately. I rented her street bob for the weekend and we headed out towards Galveston this morning. She did great and we made a few stops on the seawall before heading back home.
Go figure.........it rains on us for about a third of the way home. She did great and oddly enough I kind of enjoyed the experience.
We'll be heading out again tomorrow. Forecast calls for isolated thunderstorms. I guess they'll isolate where I am.......
Have a great holiday weekend everyone and remember those who gave all!
If they were meant to be ridden in the rain they would have included oars......JK, i have been caught many times in the rain, and it still SUCKS, but its part of being a rider, you will get caught one time or another, just remember, the most dangerous time when it rains is when it first starts to come down, be safe, ride safe, and ride defensively at all times!
Riding in the rain comes with riding a bike. Yea it sucks but I do it anyway. Last year on my trip to Nashville, it rained the second we left all the way to Cinn, Ohio. It wasn't that bad since we all had our rain gear on but hot as hell in August with that stuff on. I had my bike since since new and got cought in rain more than I cared for but I would do it al over again. My bike also sat in downpours while I worked or for the whole time I was at Laconia (When I wasn't on it). I'll tell you what really SUCKS. FOG. I rode for six hours at night in fog and that was worse than rain. Can't see the road and your glasses fog up every 2 seconds and you get soaked just like rain. So I guese I would take rain over fog any day! But as far as washing the bike, it has to get washed sometime. Just looks bad when it has all the rain road grime on it. Nothing that can't get washed off. Doesn't hurt anything! Just ride!
I just go to the car wash and used the gentle mist and cool the bike like you were riding in the rain. then I use the soft brush and wash everything, then high pressure soap and rinse and then wax and gentle rinse again. looks like new and has 36000 miles so far. I do use safe oil on the cables and the joints.
