Hi, looking for some opinions or advice on a C&C seat for my NT. I have a sundowner presently, but I am thinking of going with a C&C Sport Tour, but I have never had any experience with "gel". I have been told gel can get hot, but not sure of any other drawbacks or benefits...I ride 2 up a lot, thus the sport tour. Any comments, suggestions....thanks in advance....
Personally, I would not bother with the gel. That being said, my rear end is not as sensitive as some other people. I have also read about the gel getting hot. It seems to me that the c and c seats are quite comfortable without the gel. Maybe call up Chuck and ask him what he thinks.
I just ordered a Squareback without gel. Chuck said that the gel is generally for heavier riders, and that it'll hold heat quite a bit. I'm not interested in frying my backside, so I went without.
Great advice guy's thanks. I'm about to order a LoPro Solo for my FXSTDI and I was wondering the same thing about the gel. I never thought about it holding heat, good call. The web site says the LoPro fits 02 and after and I have an 01. I emailed Chuck and he assured me that he put the web site together and made a mistake with the year and that 01 and later all use the same seat.
I had Chuck put gel in my Sportster and Deluxe stock seats and he shaved them to be a little narrower instead of getting a new seat. So far, I haven't had any issues with the gel getting hot. However I can't say I'd recommend gel for any of their custom seats. They're pretty nice as is and I don't think you'd need the gel.
I bought the sport tour without gel for my '03 FXST not too long ago. So far it's been awesome. Good back support but still low and far enough back that I don't feel like I'm riding the tank. From what I can remember, better than the stock seat. I ran a LePera Bare Bones Solo for a number of years and I would be hurting after 30 minutes with that thing.
Recently purchased my second seat from Chuck & Chuy of C&C Seats. (Upgraded to a solo with built-in rider backrest).
Talked with both of them and the consensus was that unless you did a lot of 300+ mile days consistently, the gel wouldn't make that big of a difference.
Great if you are going cross-country but they both said the average daytripper really wouldn't notice the difference.
