Thanks for all the feedback guys. When I bought the bike I decided to go ol' school on the looks and try to keep the basic Deluxe theme. Of course, like most, I can't leave anything alone and wanted to get a custom paint set done to make the bike a little more unique. A few months after I bought it I was on a poker run of about 100 bikes and funny enough there was a guy who by chance ended up beside me on one leg of the run who had the same bike. Mine was stock and so was his...lol. Anyway, I got the paint set done last fall and havn't put them on yet. I had planned on keeping the stock tins thinking I may put them back on at some point down the road. Every where I ride the bike folks always comment on the paint.
I say go for it!!! I bet that new set will look great... You can always change back to you stock set if you dont like it. But make sure to post some pics when on. That new paint set screams MEEEEAAANNN!!!
that being said I'm sure the custom set is going to look great on your bike....
I would install them and run with them for a few months...then ask the same question....
I'm sure you'll get a bunch of votes for the custom set!
last time i seen flake that big was on a 20 foot ranger LOLOLOL
The flake is actually very small. Its certainly no bigger than Harley's black pearl. The main difference is Harleys black pearl has rainbow flake over charcoal while mine is a true black base and the flake is House of Kolor Black Diamond ultra fine. They also have a medium and course. It pops really hard in the sun but if you back away 15 feet it basically looks black. In the shade it basically looks black.
The bar/shield is painted with a beveled effect.
Thinking about it...Harleys Root Beer and Purple custom colors also have a bigger flake. If you are familiar with the Candy Red Sunglo, the flake is almost identicle. It was a 1 year color for Harley in 2008. My Ultra is Candy Red Sunglo and I have put the black set on the seat of the Ultra in the sun comparing the paint and the flake is the same.
