Don't even question it, get the 5" bag!!! You won't notice the extra size once it is installed, but you will def. miss it when you do go to stuff that 3" bag!
OK, here's my question. How much can you move the thing back and forth? I've got about 10-1/2" between the lower saddlebag mount and the axle nut. Can I have the bag sitting that far back?
I never thought my bags dragged and I ride hard as well (01 FXST, lowered front and rear 1" ),
Until I took them out to clean and bam.. there was the wear on the bottom, I was bummed.
alas, I found the right side mount to be more fun , nicer looking, I like seeing my belt and swing arm, check it out you may like this setup .
I am sure I want a swing arm bag. I like the Leatherworks bags. My question is which bag to get the 3" or the 5". I ride a lot of twisties. Will either size bag drag? Oh yea I rarely scrape my pegs. It will be the left side mounted bag. Any info on this subject is appreciated.
New Softail I'm just throwing this out there but take a look at "HogDeluxe" swing arm bag. I have their saddlebags and I can tell you their quality is First Class. Funny, your ad was asking between 3 or 5 inch..their bag is a 4 inch.
I just rode 1200 miles in the Blue ridge and did Deals Gap with no issue. My bike is lowered in but i have an 18" wheel... My bag was stuffed with my rain gear pants and it was stuffed to the gills and its about 3-4" deep. However, its a La Rosa and the quality isn't as good as others mentioned here. See my sig pick
