Default Short trip bag?? Suggestions?

I'm heading out Saturday for a short overnight trip. (250 miles one way +/-)

I purchased a Grantour bag for the trip and just my luck....UPS rescheduled the delivery so the bag will not arrive before this weekend.

I have an "09" Fatboy and a detachable sissy bar. I'm looking for suggestions on how to pack minimal stuff for two (my wife is riding the streetbob...no luggage room there).

I had thought about bungy cording a softsided bag to the rear seat and sissy bar. Does that sound simple enough?

That sounds like a satisfactory plan for a short trip. Everyone is different with luggage and I always use my sissy bar mounted bag, but that would suffice fine.

That might work...if you have a mesh net looking bungee you'll surely keep it out of your back tire. Most dealerships sell T-bags, but I could understand how you wouldn't want to pickup an extra with one on the way. Have a good trip.

I am looking for bags.. But I have done four long three to four day trips on my Crossbones and all I have done is bungee my stuff on. T-Bags are fricken sweet my riding budy has one but I couldnt pay $200 for it. But make sure you have the plastic hook bungees so it doesnt mess up your paint or scratch your chrome.

I didn't think about the mesh net type restraints. That's a great idea. If I can find one with adjustable strats and plaxtic hooks that would do the trick.

Thanks guys.

One last thing....I bought the bag from American Classic Motors. The delivery mixup was not their fault. I told them about the bag being cheaper on another web site (by $50) and they beat that price by a few bucks and shipped the bag for free!

Anyway....If you guys are looking for something they are worth the toll free phone call.

Thumbs up

I got a Kuryakan bar bag, it is about 18" long, 9" round, attatches to the bars and triple trees. It is waterproof, and I can put jeans, shirt, undies, cigs, camera, ect. I use it for all my trips, including Sturgis each year, except I ship most of my stuff FedEx to Sturgis a couple days before I leave, and back when I leave there. Just take the essentials on bike!!

back pack on the sissy bar or poor mans bags Hefty. you could just use samsonite strapped on the back or ups the cloths or buy some new cloths when you get to where your going.
you may want to check for a RALLY PACKŽ UNIVERSAL LUGGAGE SET for $79 form a indy shop or one of those other brand dealers.

i still use the small one for over nights

Ill take a backpack and bungee to the sissy bar. Works fine for short/overnight trips.
